As I pointed out earlier, Her Majesty was still around when these were being worn by members of those fine battalions of the NFF, they were all very soon to be obsolete and sadly, many of their original wearers gone forever, victims of dangerous over confidence.

From Lindley, God forsaken, certainly much fought over and complete with the fragment of Foreign Service Khaki Drill shoulder strap, once again, obsolete around 1902.

Actually Ed 7 ascended to the throne in January 1901 (after mum died).
There is an interesting document at TNA about the change over from Victoria's crown to King's crown on insignia which i think is dated in ?mid 1902 - I'll try and find it amongst my junk. |
