Somewhere and I do not know where, there will be a photograph of him wearing the uniform. It may be worth checking the regimental journal. The Regimental museum will probably have copies.

Pleased the tunic was of interest to see, and thanks to everyone for the replies especially:
Simon, Great to have a name to now work from. Close examination of label handwriting definitely points to the name of Morris. Rob, Good call to check buttons and indeed very nice to note same manufacturer / supplier markings on buttons and tunic. High Wood, Splendid suggestion indeed to check with the Welch Regiment museum and I intent to try and learn more about this gentlemen and will update accordingly. Best wishes, Pat |

did you acquire the tunic in Lincolnshire by any chance ? If not I know the whereabouts of another similar tunic with bullion shooting badges should anyone be interested ? (I'm pretty sure the other one is 3rd VB though) PL |

Splendid tunic Pat - great thread gentleman with lots of good inputs. Exciting to think you can trace the wearer and find a pic.
He had quite a span in service and the amazing thing for me is to remain a top shot his his eyesight clearly didn't deteriorate. Thanks for sharing, Dean.

Really nice tunic. I'll have a look in Taff Collins' book on the Vol Batt'ns of the Welsh Reg't when I get back home next week, he should be in there especially if he had a LSGC medal.

Simon
went into the antiques centre yesterday (Astra Antiques at Hemswell) - the tunic has already been sold (online apparently) - can confirm that it was 3rd VB Welsh Regiment and was accompanied by a Cabinet Photo of the original owner/wearer. Was waiting to see whether the tunic was still there before replying Regards PL |

Nothing coming up under that name for long service award or VB service in SA I’m afraid. Hwyl, Kevin |

Kevin,
Thanks for taking the time to check, much obliged. Smashing to meet you, Brookies and Eddie at Yate yesterday and enjoyed having a chat. Thought the Glamorgan Militia Grenadier Company item you showed is superb! Best wishes, Pat |

In Ray Westlake's book, The Territorial Battalions. A pictorial history 1959-1985, there are four photographs of soldiers with similar shooting prize badge covered tunics. Sadly, none of the four photographs are of a Welsh Regiment soldier.
