Default Londonderry 1972

Yesterday's Daily Mail suggests that there could be a number of murder charges brought against former members of the Parachute Regiment later this month, as a result of their actions in Londonderry some forty seven years ago now.
The former Paratroopers face allegations ranging from perjury to murder, although, it is suggested that only four are most at risk to be actually charged with murder.

This may be of some interest.

Unfortunately it doesn't deal with the Bloody Sunday incident but does have some interesting facts and figures.

It is suggested that any charges will be brought after the 14th of March by prosecutors in Northern Ireland.

Interestingly, the MOD have now stated that the seventeen former paratrooper's legal fees, which may result if prosecutors decide to proceed tomorrow, will be paid by the MOD.
Meanwhile, Lord Saville has announced that prosecutions are "not" the aim of the inquiry into Bloody Sunday.

Yes indeed, if proceedings actually go ahead, the former paratroopers will be represented entirely at the expense of the MOD.
