Hi,

Howard Coles 'Formation badges of WW2' possibly identifies the cat badge -
" 9 Corps. A black 'Kilkenny' cat, back arched in defiance, on an orange square."

In the middle on the left is U.S. Army Headquarters European Theater of Operations. (Eagle is facing left, so it must be a right shoulder patch...)

And top right is U.S. Army Headquarters Allied Forces Central Europe, possibly related to the previously IDed patch.

I would be very interested if anyone can identify the red/blue/black X badge which has been a mystery item for many years in the pages of The Formation Sign, the journal of The Military Heraldry Society.

It has been suggested that it may have a Home Guard connection - X Zone with a battalion number - but still awaits a positive ID.

Thoughts on this one? Obviously Artillery, but regiment or brigade?

Would this not have a link to the 7th London Regiment?

Regards Simon.
