Paul,

That may be a plus. At least the Trading Standards people can deal with the sellers. At the moment, despite my complaining to them several times, the auction site are content to sit back and do nothing. Nothing new there then!

Default Another seller ...

Here's another seller from Bulgaria. To his credit he's posting high-resolution images of the badges, so must be confident of his workmanship. Despite this he already has a few suckers bidding on his badges ...

I can't find sisiffu1 through the eBay community listing to check out his listings.

That same red backing has shown up behind Australian badges being offered by at least two "other" Sofia, Bulgaria eBay sellers. It was one of the things that initiated my concern for the W.A. 16th Cameron Highlanders' badge.

Now Tiptafts! S**t! I guess they will flood in to Australia now. But at least, as collectors, we can see what they have done to make it distinguishable from the real thing for the time being.

I did tell one of them that the badge they were selling was a fake and that the real one had a flat back!

Hope they churn those out - will be easier to then detect them as fakes

Interesting to see that he has a 1914 Star "named on the back" but he fails to give details of the name, number and regiment of the recipient. No one seems to have asked for the details as no questions are posted and yet he has a bid of £46.00.

on the second picture you can make out that the star is named to 2957 LCpl G Prowse of the 10th Hussars. George Prowse was killed in action in October 1914.
Looks like a badly cast copy to me !

The Bulgarians seem to be embracing the reproduction business good style. They are certainly doing their research and are taking care to repro. items which, if genuine would be well sought after. Of course, they are trading on their ability to trap the inexperienced, easily tempted collector. They only need one bidder to get their cash and that is sufficient incentive for them to continue. Shame on them!

Dave.
