RAF 'Unofficial' Badges
Hi All,
I run the Empire to Commonwealth Project and I have been handed two sheets of unofficial badges belonging to squadrons of the RAF. The images though are in black and white .... Does any one have any colour images of any RAF unofficial badges that they could forward to me, please? I will of course acknowledge your contribution within the Project. My Email is here. If you can help, or would like me to forward the two sheets of images to you - please let me know. Thank you for your help, + Anthony

RAF unofficial badges
Hi,
Sadly I have no pictures for you, but, new patches are produced for every new elementary flight training cadre passing through the RAF (ie 57 (Reserve) Sqn). The trainees design their own patch and have them made locally for wear on their flight overalls. I don't think the relevant Dress Committee's every see them. Regards, Stephen. |

uk_raf_k9.jpg You might find a better one than this on the web, if it is not in your files yet. Used to be sold and not issued. Worn if you could get away with it. There have also been a couple of RAF Police badges related to Northern Ireland, but I don't know if they were unofficial. Cheers, Paul.

RAF unofficial badges
Hi,
In response to 'what happens to them?'- After Elementary Flight School prospective pilots graduate to more specialised training: Fast jet/ multi engine/ rotary wing. They continue to wear their unofficial badges until they join these training sqn and are re-badged. I imagine the old one get binned or are kept as souvenirs by their owners. Regards, Stephen. |

If you need the image to be one I've produced I can take a snap of the badge sometime. Or if you come accross the image on mugs on ebay you can use that as it was a picture I took. Steve Davies may be able to help with other RAFP badge info. http://rafpolicehistory.blogspot.com...-has-been.html Best Regards, Paul.
