Mike,
I only remembered our discussion on Sunday earlier today and had a look in the Cheshire Yeomanry history. I find it amazing that men who had earlier been senior ( and sometimes decorated ) officers were prepared to serve in a very junior capacity when required. Compare that with todays instant celebrity mentality ! Rather reminiscent of the Home Guard when former senior officers joined as other ranks. Peter
