Odd Fixing Arrangement
I've just acquired this REME AA badge with a strange fixing arrangement. A short 'hairpin' tang at the top and a 'clutch' pin at the bottom. No maker marks, but the badge has all the characteristics of FIRMIN. Can anyone shed any light on this? Why this configuration and for whom? What headgear? If not a beret, then it must be flexible as you would have to bend the tang or the cap to get the pin in. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Danbury Mint ‘Collectors” set, most are anodised with two anodised blades designed to be fitted to A5 velour cards, in turn set into a group display frame. REME has one blade and clutch pin as not suitable for two blades. The 13th/18th Hussars being so small has two clutch pin fittings.

Thanks Tim. I'd never have guessed that, but your link explains all.
