I think this badge is absolutely genuine. The style of the rose is pre WW1 and is probably attached separately to the bottom quills of the plume. Some of these examples have a sweat hole behind the coronet, but most don't, so that is not a deciding factor. Overall, the colour, style, size and condition lead me to think it is genuine.
