Default Auction Lot - Surprised at the price achieved.

Having recently seen the thread regarding the cloth commando sign on Ebay and the price it achieved I thought I would you show you this lot from a local Auction House.

I placed a bid, which I thought was fair on the lot but was surprised at how high the bidding went.

A nice mixed lot but am I way off in thinking this is expensive or is this a fair reflection of whats on show.

The SAARF title (Special Allied Airborne Reconnaissance Force) title is where the money is, that’s almost certainly worth the total cost of the lot …

I see several others that may not be as rare but would love to have! So I feel some very nice pieces in that lot, and commend them for showing both the front and the backs,

Terry

Being a regular buyer at auctions, prices have certainly gone up over the last two years, possibly because of the pandemic, more have been at home and auctions are becoming more well known.

Only this week I was watching some RAF flying gear and it went over what I consider to be retail. None were especially rare although not ten a penny. One for example was a parachute harness and parachute pack (empty). I'd think the latter would hit about £1200 to £1400 tops, and the pack maybe £400 to £600. It sold for £2500, plus a few small costs.
