Default RWAFF / RAMC

This badge / patch was once glued to the pagri on a slouch hat. For some silly reason I took it off when I wore the hat in the near east. (I should glue it on again)

Anyway, the owner was an RAMC Colonel in W Africa 1944??) and had something to do with the RWAFF too.

The Green might be the RWAFF and the dark red might be the RAMC......... Height 61mm and width (at base) 56mm.

Could anyone identify this badge please....

I will be interested to see what replies you get. That is a very nice badge.

From memory different colour triangles and bars were worn by the various states/countries making up the RWAFF.

Yours looks to be a green triangle with red bar which I associate with Nigeria.

Here is another image with badge that I possibly downloaded from a previous thread.

Quite a few RWAFF collectors on here who I'm sure will put us right.

Thanks folks, I thought there was a RWAFF "group" here.

Though interesting to know " the various states/countries making up the RWAFF."

I'll try and dig out some photographs

Here is one of mine which I posted on another forum.

They appear to be from the Gold Coast Regiment.

I agree. The Gold Coast triangle was yellow which seems to fit with its shade in the black and white photo. The other colours worn being much darker - blue (Sierra Leone) , brown (Gambia) and red (HQ).

Again others may confirm as it was sometime ago that I last took an interest in the RWAFF.

I have no idea, but the shade or the "red" bar at the bottom is more of the ruby red used by medical than a red red?

I know very little of his 2nd WW career (loads from 1stWW) - firstly CO of 22 Gen Hosp in Norway (I have a feeling that I have the War Diary of that one!!! - do I send it on to the MoD ???)

Not sure next but ended up in West Africa - photographs marked Gold Coast - 37 Gen Hosp
The soldiers on the left might have the same badge???

I'll try and zoom in...
