Default Pte Miller SD1199 Royal Sussex and OTC?

I have these two family pictures which I believe both show my great uncle Arther John (Jack) Miller, he does look rather different in both of them but the early one would probably be pre WW1 in an OTC uniform?, the later one early in 1918 not long before his death.

I can't get it any clearer but I presume the school would be relatively close to Pevensey.

He was in the Royal Sussex Pioneer battalion in the last photos.

The second photo has 2 wound stripes and a good conduct chevron so was late war. The first photo is not an OTC I recognise so may be a cadet corps.

Photo one has a khaki? cap cover so is rather odd.

Yes the cap cover is odd.

I bought another picture recently because I convinced myself that was him again on the left but I think the ear is wrong?
