Durham Light Infantry Badges - real or fake?
Hi all,
Would anyone be able to advise whether the attached 3 Durham Light Infantry badges (numbered 1 to 3) are genuine or fake? Number 1 looks potentially ok. Number 2 appears to be possibly crudely cast. Number 3 has maker marks on it but not sure if genuine. All are solidly made and metal is fairly thick and not flimsy. Any feedback / info would be much appreciated if possible. Many thanks and best regards. |

Greetings.
All are fine badges in my opinion. 1 and 2 are for 6th Battalion O/R's, 1 is a cap badge 2 is a collar badge. 3, being smaller is, in all probability, an O/R's beret badge for the Regular Battalions. Regards. Brian |

I would agree with Brian that the small one is a post WW2 era badge from the 1950s.

Is No2 not an Officer's Service Dress collar badge?

I agree, on first glance it could be.
It is a cast badge as opposed to struck, but there are obvious signs of brass where the blackening is chipped/falling off or worn. I'll stick with 6th battalion collar. Regards. Brian |

Hi all, I am planning on keeping these badges as they are of interest to me. If anything is a copy, I will put it to one side. Many thanks and regards.

The OSD collar badges are generally the same size as cap badges, often the same design as well.
