Default MYSTERY BADGES...HELP PLEASE!

Hello there,

I have attached two photos with a few items from my collection that I am struggling to identify with any certainty. If any kind members would care to help me I would really appreciate it. The badges are numbered to make it easier. Many thanks.

52 is Queen’s Gurkha Signals - could be either collar or cap badge.

13 is School of Signals arm badge

No:-17 is certainly not a badge associated with the Cheshire Constabulary or indeed any other UK police force.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for the most recent replies. Yes a number of the badges have been identified by knowledgeable members. To avoid repetition these are the ones that remain unsolved 3,4,5,9,19,20,24,27,29,33,34,35,36,39,42,46,49,50, 51.

Thanks

No 34. Check to see if there is a small maple leaf in the centre. It might be Canadian Fusiliers.

Thanks Phillip,
Looks like you are right and it is the Canadian Fusiliers with a maple leaf at the centre.

Kind regards
Bill

Hi Bill,

I don’t know if this helps but:

No. 33. Looks like it is possibly Ugandan as it’s sporting two crested cranes.

No. 34. Listed in my 1957 edition of Edwards as: Royal Fusiliers (city of London Regiment) S.D. cap badge.

No. 35. Possibly Japanese if that is a chrysanthemum above the anchors and centre devise.

No. 42. Appears to be the same pattern as the S.A.A.F collar or possibly, depending on size, off one of their padded cloth officers cap badges.

Zob.

The image is not very high resolution but, if No. 51 is an elephant above a tiger in all gilding metal then it is an other ranks collar badge of The Royal Dublin Fusiliers, 1882 - 1922.

Hi Zob,

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. You suggested number 33 might be Ugandan with the same crested cranes as found on their flag. However the centre of the shield has 3 wavy blue and 3 wavy white lines alternately which don't tie up with Uganda's national colours. Also at the very bottom of the badge is a scroll which appears to possibly read ' consilio vide vigilantia'

Number 34 has indeed been confirmed as Canadian City of London Regiment Fusiliers.rilliant

Number 35 has a shape of a flower above the anchors but I'm not sure if it is the typical Imperial chrysanthemum of Japan. But you could well be right though.

Number 42. I suspect this is a great spot on your part. It looks exactly like the gold eagle on the South African Staff Officers embroidered peaked cap badge as you suggest.

By the way I will let you know if I manage to identify number 27 as you recently expressed an interest in it.

Once again thanks very much.

Best regards
Bill
