Cameron Highlanders - Royal Scots Fusiliers hybrid
Hi all,
This solid cast WM badge has me perplexed. I dare not think of the howls I may get, caution to the wind… Pipers, Operation Mincemeat, Canadian … My best to all, Dean

Good whatever time it is with you Dean.
In my slightly inebriated state, I do like this badge and would go as far as to say it is a genuine made in theatre example. Reasons being that the front has very good definition, the detailing is very good and the reverse, albeit flat and featureless, does not appear to be of the normal Mickey Mouse fake example. However, I have no idea for which unit it was intended ......although some Scottish connection obviously. But as always, I stand, (or sit as I am now), to be corrected. Hic!! Regards. Brian |

Good morning all,
I also have this badge in unmarked silver or silver plated in my collection. I bought this badge as a 3rd (Militia) Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers Pipe-Major’s badge from a well-known seller in 2021. But, I have several original photographs of the late Capt. Philip DURAND Collection of Scottish badges from various regiments . These badges were displayed during the Empire Exhibition in Glasgow in 1938. These photographs that were used to ensure the collection during the Exhibition were given to me by Laurence V. ARCHER in the 80'. The badge appears in the RSF frame as a piper's badge of a Volunteer Battalion. So, definitely an RSF piper's badge, but for which battalion ? Best regards Jean-Marie |

Many thanks Brian and Jean-Marie.
I am happy to have it as a 3rd (Militia) Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers Pipe-Major’s badge. I had considered a pipers badge but without the definitive note and photograph from the Capt Durand collection it had eluded me as to which one. If only it had been a regular battalion item which I collect to but never mind a pleasing badge. Best regards Dean
