Yorkshire Regt O/R' HPCs 1881-1914
I am looking to acquire an example of a Yorkshire Regiment HPC, and whilst reading through K&K, noticed that there seems to be absolutely no difference between their two illustrations/descriptions for KK 379 & KK 308.
Am I correct in thinking they are identical or, embarrassingly, am I perhaps missing something obvious? With thanks, N

N,
I think as with the Kings Liverpool's OR`s hpc`s there is no difference ( not true of all regiments ) and I think K and K just showed all the hpc`s in each section for a complete record. P.B.

no change
Quote:
As Peter has pointed out, there was no change in many of the HPCs after 1902 the Yorkshire Regiment being just one example as you have correctly pointed out. However, for some regiments there had been changes...not all shown in K&K, viz ; "West Surrey" changed to "The Queens", "Warwickshire" changed to "Royal Warwickshire" and "Somersetshire" changed to "Somerset". These HPCs are very rare now but are shown in Gaylor's book. Others, which are listed in K&K vary in different respects, eg change in title or simply QVC to KC. In the case of the Yorkshire Regt, the crown was supposed to represent Princess Alexandra's coronet but, due to a now well known error (which appeared again in some WW2 badges) was not corrected at the time and so the HPC remained unchanged for the whole period of its use as far as I know.
