Gents, dont believe this is British - however, can anyone identify it for me?

Will be for sale once identified.

Bess, I have 1 of these and was told it is ATC for Gliders. Exactly what I am unsure.

Not sure how long it has been around but it was in use in the early 1980s. Worn on left shoulder patch of wooly pully. I think it was for passing a glider training course. I think the badges related to gliding changed in the late 1990s. Regards, Paul.
