Light Infantry Button.
Described by Howard Ripley as being worn by Light Infantry Regiments 1946-1959. Did it replace the regimental Light Infantry buttons such as the K.S.L.I., D.L.I., D.C.L.I., etc, or if not , who exactly wore them?

Ripley's book shows the regimental buttons of the KOYLI, OX & BUCKS, KSLI, & DLI ending c1946. For the Som LI it just says post 1881 and for DCLI post 1929 but I assume they changed to the Light Infantry button at the same time.

Thank you for your thoughts. It seems strange that individual Light Infantry regiments would lose their regimental distinctions so soon after WW2. Possibly uniformity as a cost cutting exercise, but it cannot have saved a vast sum of tax payer's money.
