Default Irish Ranger Wing beret and badge
May I pick the communal brains I have acquired an Irish Ranger Wing beret and the badge attached to it is a standard gold anodised Defence Forces Ireland badge that has been painted black.can anyone confirm if this is kosher.

An anodised beret badge is normal for ORs, while officers wear a much darker bronze badge. Whether or not this badge is an ORs which has been ‘tactically darkened’ or not I don’t know. The green backing looks very bright compared to the kosher ones in my collection, but that might be just the photo.

Hi Colin thank you for your reply any chance of some photos for me to compare with. The green backing patch is not as bright in the flesh.

What is the diameter of the cap badge ? An ORs cap badge should be 4cms wide, an officers is 4.6cms wide.
