Is the left hand badge on a slider, I have seen "silver" badges like this described as officers badges, are these genuine items?

Hi Chris, thanks for putting me right on that, and I think you find that Luke is correct. To be sure, you need to look at the helmet that Britannia wears. The good badge has good detail and a clear helmet plume. A modern copy has a very plain and basic helmet design, it looks more like a riot helmet.

If I remember correctly they are from the Birmingham Mint collection.

Hi Chris, the badge you have posted is from one of the sets of badges from the Danbury mint collection, it came with a coin. Called something like cap badges of the British army.

It is indeed that fake. Straight out the Marsh catalogue. I’ve always thought Britannia and the helmet looks like the Martian from the Warner Bros cartoons.

Hi Chris
The officer badges have a tablet below Britannia and are gilt finish. Post war officer beret badges were this pattern but smaller until the bullion beret badges came into use if I have my facts right.
Cheers,
Alex

Thanks all.

Thankfully I did not purchase. It was a small set and the badge that I may have been interested in was also a duffer.

People on the forum saved me a disappointment again. - thanks.

Chris
