Owen's book has this as a Cape Police pouch badge pre 1902 ( Owen 352). I guess that the victorian crowns make it 'pre 1902'. It's rather wide to be anything other than a pouch badge. I have only ever seen one , which I sold to another forum member in a weak moment . I dont remember whether the one I had had lugs or screw fastenings. Its an attractive badge and well worth having.
