Default Letters on slider-relic from WW1 battlefield

Nice backing badge, Gloucestershire Rgt from a ww1 battlefield, north of France. Letters GWW on slider, most probably the initials of the last owner !
Does anyone have seen such letters on slider ? Thanks. Vincent.

Default Slider inscription

I had an Essex Regt cap badge that had been polished through in places with the word "BASTARD" stamped into the slider, I gave it to a friend who has a great interest in the Essex Regt.
