Default Dumbartonshire R V

Was fortunate to pick this lot up off of ebay.... it was mislisted as Hindoo Regt badges... I'm thinking it's a plaid brooch,2 collars and a button to the Dumbartonshire Rifle Volunteers... the grouse claw that's been brooched was in the lot... it looks old , but I'm not sure there is any military affiliation...
As always comments appreciated... Jim

If this link:

http://www.bluebellmilitaria.co.uk/viewitem.php?id=208

does not take you directly to another example, click on archive ,near the top and keep on scrolling down.

P.B.

P.S. Jim I wouldn't clean your example the way the Bluebell one has been cleaned, I think yours looks more like it has a lot of age.

Hi Jim, yeah I was going for it as I had a buyer. No point paying what I was offered to get it; no profit in it. I was going to up to 200 pound. But would have only made 50 pound on it. Your lucky I didn't want it........ no place in my collection for it.

Simon

If £50 isn't a profit, then what is it...........??????????

If you can turn £50 around as an earner on a badge, you ain't doing too shabbily in my book and I rarely ever sell anything.

Regards

Brian

Yeah Brian I've done well on some badges I've picked up. Picked some up for $5 and sold them for $150. 50 pound aint bad but couldn't' be bothered packing and shipping as I was on my way out the door to on vacation. So left the bid that would have reaped a fine profit. When I took away the shipping to me and then on to the UK I would have pulled out about $60.

It was Jim's lucky day....................

I'm glad a Forum member got either way.

Cheers

Simon.

might be of interest, from [I]"The Records of the Scottish Volunteer Force 1859-1908" [I] by Maj. General J.M. Grierson. The colour plate for this corps and some snippits from the chapter that relate to uniforms.
