Question King's Colonials badge

Hi all,

A recent addition - a small gilding metal King's Colonials badge on a pin. The pin has a screw thread along its length to retain its position and is 3cm in length. The badge itself is 28x24mm in size. I presume that this is this a sweatheart badge but had considered a bush-hat badge for the upturned brim perhaps but too small and usually lugged?

Advice appreciated, cheers Dean.

I would go for a sweetheart badge. I have the cap badge but not with me for
exact measurements. However, I am sure your SHB is smaller. And yes, it should have lugs - from memory, the one I have has three...
That's a nice badge by the way, I haven't seen that particular one before. David

Thanks David - appreciate the input - an attractive and well made badge and at least authentic even as sweatheart, cheers Dean.

These were a pin for a cravat or tie before the modern safety pin arrangement, I have seen a wonderfull gold one to the 17th Lancers and an early one with a Local Militia gilt button for the decoration, Nice item, regards Kevin

Many thanks Phil - happy with it being a sweat heart badge after checking some other period ones, cheers Dean.
