Default 58th sweetheart. any ideas?

Hello All, could anyone help me out with this brooch? It would seem to be more suited to the 12th (Suffolks) than the 58th?
Thanks,
Bill.

Your badge is definitely 58th Foot a predecessor of the Northamptonshire Regiment. Their collar badge is illustrated as Fig 1306 in Churchills book with the 3 tower castle over a scroll "Montis Insignia Calpe" It was worn by the 2nd Btn after they amalgamated with the 48th Foot to form The Northamptonshire Regiment. This badge continued being worn as a collar until 1916.
I collect Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire bades so if ever you decide to sell or exchange it let me know.

I've just realised my post wasn't quite clear. Your sweetheart badge is not a collar badge but the design is clearly based on the 58th collar badge.

Hello James, thanks for the reply. Although the C clasp and the hinge are present, sadly the pin is gone, i can post a photo if you wish?
Otherwise this is a nice badge, the key is a seperate piece, i would think it is quite old but cannot date it.
If it would be suitable for your collection, its yours.
Regards,
Bill.
