Good morning all, is there anyone in the UK that collects railway badges?
If so I a few that im thinking of selling.
Basically im thinning out my railway collection and use the money for ww2 Worcestershire regiment & Royal Norfolk’s cap badges and shoulder titles.

Hi Ollie
If you have anything related to the Great Northern Railway (Ireland) dating from pre-1900 to circa 1925 I'd be interested. Thanks!

I would have thought that Great Northern Railway (Ireland) badges are particularly rare for any period (especially pre-1925) - what were they like, cloth or metal? I have a few GNRI and CDRJC tickets, but they are somewhat un-inspiring WWII style economy issues.

Is the "British Railways" cap badge an unfinished example. I thought these were normally supplied in the appropriate regional colour, as illustrated by this Western Region cap badge of circa 1960.

Morning all, have been out of the loop due to the Christmas activates, oh a bit of time to myself would be a nice gift.

Stanley,

Yes you are correct that it should have nice blue enamel on the Long totem shape badge, it was owned by a driver at Kings lynn.

The other two badges come from the same area.

I know i have another box to wade through should come up with some more badges, although i think its all my Hornby locos and stock.

Would it be worth creating a "Railway & Other Civilian Service" album - a few views of railway, shipping etc buttons might be of use to purely military collectors insofar as they would show how similar some of these items are to army buttons.

Hello Ollie,

I am looking for a cap badge for a Porter, (LNWR). Do you have one looking for a new home?

Are they hard to come by, and are there many repros of this badge around?

Thanks,
James,
J47.

It would probably be worth looking at the London & North Western Railway Society web site.

This was my first port of call, but I couldn't find what I wanted.

I also sent them an email a few weeks ago now, but they didn't even bother sending me a reply.

James.
