Default ID-ing a unit (bw formation patches visible)

hi chaps,
can any1 please id the unit of the soldier from the photograph?
The only thing I know is it was taken in possibly Prague 1945-46 (post-war).

I can imagine it can be sort of a 'honorary' British contingent for the Prague Vic Parade in summer 45

many thanks,
s.

Hello,
The badges are from top to bottom:-

78th Division

38th (Irish) Infantry Brigade.

The next badge is the tricky one to define the Bn.

I think its red and therefore probably 1st Royal Irish Fusiliers.

regards

Could it just be a Red Arm of Service Strip?

Marc,

Yes, that is what I am referring to. Other Bn.'s had it in green etc, so its all about the colour.

Okay, so it is not an AofS strip, but, a Battalion Flash that looks the same?

Smile Photo I.D.

This photo appears in Mike Chappells book "British Battle Insignia (2) 1939-45 on page 41, he notes the arm of service strip is incorrectly placed below the brigade sign.

He does not say which Btn.

At that time, 1 R Irish Fus were distinguished by the stitched outline of an inverted equilateral (green) triangle on the shamrock of 38 (Irish) Inf Bde. Mike
