Default Sevastopol Scroll

Hi guys,

I have this scroll that appears to me a "Battle Honour" from and early badge or buckle. It is a two part badge, brass on silver, engraved shamrocks, with screw posts attached. It is 5cm by 2.5 cm. Any information on the badge would be appreciated.

All the best Ypres

From a crossbelt to the 13th Hussars . From a set of 2 worn below the prickers, theres also 2 above the pricker plate and one above and below the clover leaf boss that holds the other end of the chains. Each scroll carries a different battle honour.

Hi Ypres

Interesting item. If it helps, the "Sevastopol" battle honour is struck, whereas the silver backing plate is hand-engraved. You probably knew this anyway....

What appear to be shamrocks could well be that but they may also be an ivy type leaf, common as a "filler" in a lot of decorative engraving.

It also puts me in mind of items I saw at markets in France when I was there, last century!
