would i be correct in thinking that UCS is university college school?

Bob,
What a great item. In "The Rifle Volunteers" by Ray Westlake, under the 20th (Middlesex) Corps on page 108 he says: "Attached to the 20th in 1904 was the University College School Cadet Corps. This unit had previously been affilited to the 1st London Corps and in 1908 became part of the Junior Division of the Officer Training Corps " If you come across any similar items with a Liverpool connection you know who would be interested.
