Canadian Badges-Era and Authenticty
I am trying to confirm the era of the attached badges and importantly are they in fact original or copies.
Thanks for your help 1. RCR 1894-1901? 2. Montreal Regiment CEF or later? 3. Lord Strathconas Horse Cap Badge(no apostrophe) and Officers Collar(with apostrophe)? CEF or later? Regards Mark |

The Gaunt plates are the type associated with modern copies. Squared corners and the top and bottom letters "justified".

Hi Mark, by no means an expert, I collect to the RCR and have not seen one of those before. I have a couple of the style you show, bi metal types though. I have seen a die stamped version sold via a popular auction site but it was a WW1 version in brass. Would be interested to know if the badge is correct and issued, it would be another i have to find! Regards Mark

The RCR one is an 1894 pattern. See here: http://www.regimentalrogue.com/rcrbadges/rcr-1894.htm

Thanks Bill. Do you think it is an original badge?
Kind regards Mark |
