That's a lovely photo Jon.

Ferry Command aircrew at the start were all civilians, drawn from American airline pilots and crews, bush pilots, mail pilots etc. Some were loaned from BOAC and the Canadian Department of Transport. The organisation was initially the Canadian Pacific Air Service (from September 1940) then it came under the Ministry of Aircraft Production from May 1941. Because of a need to hand over (neutral) American aircraft to the military, RAF Ferry Command was established in July 1941 and the crews became uniformed.

The badge was worn on a dark blue cap, with a uniform of tan shirt and trousers with black tie. Uncrowned wings and half wings were also worn, and on the overcoat a brass shoulder title.

Interesting information.

Did not know about the wing or shoulder title.

Many thanks.
