Default Meer Jones & Co

A have a couple of other ranks quality "Meer Jones Birmingham" marked buttons in my collection, but I have just spotted a nice poster on ebay with the same name on it.

So who were Meer Jones, Button Makers, Taylors, Badge Makers or poster makers?

Certainly (made an offer far lower than the buy it now price).
If Meer Jones produced badges I hope they were more accurate than some of those shown on the poster.

Well done Leigh.

It will be interesting to see how they came up with exactly 300, presumably with a selected representation of Canadian badges?

Same one by the looks - whoever bought it that time around wasn't looking for a profit then.

SA and NZ too. I'm guessing a 'tween the wars poster, rather than a WWI production, 1920's-30's.

The late lamented Cribyn / Roger very kindly sent me a list of (military) button makers a few years ago.
I just looked for Meer Jones but he only had "Birmingham, 20th century"
He had said that there was much more research to do - which I hope someone could take over that mantle.

Meer Jones is mentioned in one or other of the forum's badge or buttons manufacturers albums but only by name, no images or any other detail.

A check on forum indicates that Meer Jones may have made Canadian military buttons.
There was a KLR button by Meer Jones for sale on eBay at some time.

The poster seems to show a (badly illustrated) Royal Sussex Regt OR's cap badge, a Sussex Yeomanry badge and interestingly, for me at least, the Sussex VTC badge which I had not expected from its title.

KR,

Pete
