Default 666 "Screaming Eagles" Squadron R.A.F. button

Can anyone please offer an opinion on this 666 Squadron R.A.F. button that I have bought of off ebay. The seller stated that it was an original and genuine button for a rare R.A.F. Special Forces Squadron that flew behind enemy lines during the war.

I cannot find out anything about 666 Squadron on the internet but I was told that it was made up of Polish Air Force pilots that came from Poland. Apparently their Squadron Leader was a very brave man called Montgomery Kasseno who had been a Polish Count before the war in Poland.

I have read in Kingley and Kipp's seminal work, Buttons of the Special Forces in Full Colour, that these buttons were made in a Shadow Factory in West Bromwich as the Button Factory in Solihull was heavily bombed by Stukas firing Doodlebugs.

I have doubts about my button as it was made by those well known fakers J.R. Grunt.

If this is a wrong one, it will be going back.

Wiki mentions a 666 Squadron:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/No._666_Squadron_RAF

My knowledge of Polish Squadrons of the RAF is very limited and my "collection" consists of two 303 Squadron combat reports, but "Montgomery Kasseno" - a genuine person or someone having a play on the Poles heavy involvement at "Monte Cassino". Apologies if a gentleman of that name did exist.

Wouldn't late Jennens date this button to early/mid-1920s.

Exactly, that is why I think that it is a fake.

It isn't a fake, as it's not a RAF button. It is a blazer button for wear in mufti. They are still available today, with Queen's Crown. You will also find them with RAFVR under the eagle.

Does today’s date have any bearing on the matter?

Never realised it was that date - time, dates don't matter in my little world though I managed to remember Mother's Day.
Can't wait till I'm old enough for my "eh?" reaction when asked day and date by a doctor to take on real significance.
Or maybe it has.
I thought the little red dots on the button eagles was an eBay thing covering swastikas, normally seen on the eagles feet not the eyes.

Yes, I thought that the red eyes were a nice touch, I was surprised that nobody commented on the fact that the image had been reversed.
