Whilst I do not know what it is, I have never seen anything like that associated with the Cameronians.

The wreath style is the same of that used by the German navy in WWII, so I wonder if it is perhaps an Imperial German Army badge?

I was going to say that it didn't look British to me, but that leaves Germany and a good few other nations to investigate.

...I only say it because it flashed up in my head that they are the 26th Foot (old memory) ... and dont they have oak leaves around the star?

I agree that it does look German though.
