12th Battalion UVF / 9th Btn. Royal Irish Fusiliers
Hi thought to share these pictures of the (what I believe to have been) the 12th Btn. UVF which became the 9th Btn. Royal Irish Fusiliers, which became part of the 36th Ulster Division and fought at Thiepval.
This is Brownlow House growing up I thought of it as a Castle, (I was a kid!) Training was in Lurgan Park, hope you enjoy! Somewhere in there is my Grandfather and our Cousins! not many returned home. Last edited by billy; 07-02-21 at 05:45 PM. |

Great photos! Here in the US I would certainly call it a castle as well. Regarding the pipe band; I note some have no cap badge and I the others are wearing something different from the normal RIF badge?
