If only the 3/4 size badge was available why in Feb 1949 did the Leics Regimental Committee ask the WO to consider replacing their large badge with a 3/4 size? One answer could be that the regt did not receive authority to wear 'Royal' badges until December 1951.
List of Change C4765 introduced a pattern (No 14653) of the above-mentioned item has been sealed to govern future manufacture.
The new pattern differs from the old (No 4522) that it is reduced in size and the white metal scroll at the base of the badge is now inscribed ‘Royal Leicestershire’.
