Default A mammoth task? fake or fortune?

Hi Guy’s,
A friends father died recently and was left three bags of military badges. I know out of these collections most of the badges would be fake/restrikes. The problem is which?

Would you be kind enough to help me or particularly him. These will be sold in the near future. May be one here that you have been looking for?
Regards
Irv

I reckon the Shoulder Belt Plates are fake. Others may confirm.

In the words of Philip Mould, had they been real you would be looking at a collection worth several thousand pounds. If copies perhaps £100 or so to the right person.

For me the shako and SBPs are all fakes IMO. Recognise a few from the Marsh catalogues.

I’ll leave it to those in the know to comment on the QVC Helmet Plate but with such a similar colour / staining to the others I don’t expect good news.

Thanks Luke/Andy
I thought the pennies were ok but I know they fake these as well. As I thought for the rest. This is only the tip of the iceberg ?
There are bags of cap badges. All of which are probably suspect but you never know. There might be a gem in with the dross but I have no idea.
I’ll be posting more over the next few days.
Regards
Irv

Default Memorial Plaques

The two memorial plaques (I detest the term "Death Plaque" "Dead Man's Penny" or similar - the item has a correct, respectful name) are as follows:-

1) Francis Frederick Warne was 14019 Private, 14th Battalion The Hampshire Regiment - he was killed in action in France on 3rd September 1916. He has no known grave and is commemorated on The Thiepval Memorial To The Missing.

2) Charles Winch has two possible candidates:-

a) G-3572 Private, 2nd Battalion The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment. Killed in action in France on 16th May 1915. Has no known grave and is commemorated of Le Touret Memorial to the Missing.
or
b) G-8003 Private, 9th Battalion The Royal Sussex Regiment, killed in action in France on 31st August 1916. Has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing.
