ATS and CWTS Canadian Contingents
Early in the SWW, Canadian women volunteered for several British organizations. Here a Canadian woman, a member of the Canadian Women's Transport Service / Canadian Red Cross poses with two officers of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. Note the Canada shoulder title. Mid sleeve she has a patch that appears to be a maple leaf? Permission was also granted to the imperial ATS to recruit Canadian women for their organization. A contingent of Canadian women embarked for overseas and wore the ATS uniform It appears that there was a distinctive patch worn on their uniform. Does anyone have one of these?

Nope, but we have gone over that ground before. I am lousy at facial recognition. That is why they are developing fr software. I need it.
If I had to make a guess, Hoffmeister?

Drifting away from my initial question; does anyone have the patch worn by the CWTS or the ATS (Canadian Contingent)?

From what I understand both contingents served through the war; there are no numbers given in the references. One refernce suggests a few hundred vounteers for the ATS but that doesn't mean that they all wore the Canadian leaf.
Yes, the patches are likely quite rare, but they may be "sleepers", patches that have been accumulated but one is not sure what they represent or to whom they should be attributed.

One question I would ask is....Would the the people responsible for the Fanys, authorise the wearing of the maple leaf by the Canadian members as a "special distinction" or, for the sake of iniformity no Canadian after a while wore the maple leaf ..... Jo

Jo, I am not sure why you are bringing FANY's into the discussion. The CWTS and ATS were different organizations. There is an indication that the Canada distinction was encouraged, and a mark of our Dominion's contribution to the war effort.
