Army Catering Corps Gallery
I'm constructing a ACC Galllery from my own stuff. Needless to say it's raised a few questions in my mind.
Army Catering Corps Gallery. (under construction STs to add) I'm using for the first time that light-box javascript thingy to open the images, if it doesn't work tell me. I don't know if I'll get any answers to my ACC questions, or if anyone is interested !

Ist type ACC collars - did they wear them? do they exist? are they the same as lugged cap badges if they did? or are lugged cap badges actually collars?

ACC Gallery
Mike, a comprehensive collection.
I'm not sure I can anser your questions, apart from those with clutch pins- they MAY be collar badges. There are two bullion Mess Dress collar badges for you to find also- with & without scroll. These may also have been worn on the coloured FS cap. Stephen. |

Hi Stephen, They are collar badges, I should have said, but there's probably a matching cap badge of this style anyway? I have a feeling this has been described as "bright metal" ? I do plan on adding the dimensions on the pics too. Bullion badges I will add too (if i find any!)

Mike, a great collection.
I would describe those collar badges in new/bright metal with clutch pins as "Last Pattern". i.e. last manufacture and issue before the ACC was subsumed into the RLC. Even before the introduction of the Future Army Dress (FAD) (the darker khaki "officer pattern" but all ranks Number 2 Dress) there has been a tendency to produce collar badges and shoulder titles with clutch pins as they reduce wear and tear on uniform. I could be wrong but I not believe that British Army cap badges are made with clutch pin fittings? - Australian cap badges certainly are! Tim

An excellent collection. I'm amazed that given the technology of the day and the circumstances under which they were produced that the plastic ACC badge is of greatly superior quality to the anodised "bling". Such is progress - but to be even handed I think the same applies to the Int Corps badges.
Are you aware of the very rare, printed sign for ACC AER (yellow design of flaming brazier on grey square)? |

Hi lassiepen, what size are the Bronze collars? I've not seen those before either. I have a space waiting for the "all gilt" cap when I eventually spot one!

I would say that your LB&B collars were certainly for soldiers although possibly for officers too. I have an unmarked pair which are not as "bright" as yours. Will post a picture.

Mike, sorry I have no examples to show you but I think that the rank chevrons worn on chef's whites are larger than the chrome police ones, Only on memory so may be wrong, regards Kevin
