Default It’s a Bonny wee thing

Always nice to read of members who have come across a little gem or who have picked up a real bargain on eBay etc. It makes one realise that there are still nice things out there to be found. By chance I came across this Bonny wee thing shown below on eBay....it had only one bidder and I slotted in my bid at the last moment. It is obviously a home conversion of a general service badge, hand enamelled and the back converted to hold a photo. I am assuming it is a Ww1 era conversion but does not really matter to me if it is later and I am sure the photo was not the original one. ..... but crude as it is, I think it is a lovely item. Best of all, it was obtained for the grand sum of £1.75p. Absolute bargain.

Nice little item - is it possible to remove the photo from its frame, try to identify the glengarry badge?

Unfortunately I cannot remove the photo. The ‘ring’ holding the photo in place is jammed solid and there is no way to lever it out to see if there are any clues. C’est la vie.

Possibly a circular, voided badge. 5th Seaforths? I wonder

Leigh, After a bit of careful teasing and levering I managed to get the photo out of the back...see below....not clear but I think it is a Seaforth Highlander badge albeit not the 5th....impressive deduction and identification.

Could be....... or is that the "standard" Seaforth's stags head caboshed above scroll?
Perhaps the "3D" Staff version?

Need a Seaforths expert to decide.

Yes Leigh I agree fully with the idea of the standard badge for the Seaforth Highlanders. I was busy editing my previous confusing entry at the same time as you were posting your last post. Many thanks for the identification.
Cheers
James

Very nice and the Enamelled button is lovely, you couldn't make this for £1.75, is the frame Brass? If a Sweetheart might it not be Gold albeit unhallmarked? All the best billy
