Default Help: Unusual Bugle badge used by British Colonial Singapore Police

Dear all,

I have attached a scan of a trade badge used by Buglers in the British Colonial Singapore Police Force, Roit Squad in 1951 till 1953.

Is this bugle trade badge used by other British Military troops as a cab badge, rank insignia or a trade badge too?

Please help.

Warmest regards,
Kit

Default Bugler's badge

Hi Kit, I too have one of these and somewhere in the back of my ancient brain I believe it is the bugler's arm badge for a musician in a light infantry Regiment. I'm surprised that after 3 days you have not had a more definitive answer from someone more knowledgeable than myself. (now you should get a flood of answers!). Regards, David J.

Default Bugles Crossed

'Bugles crossed' are shown in British Army Proficiency Badges by Denis Edwards and David Langley (151).

This gold bullion on rifle green cloth embroidered version was worn above 4 inverted chevrons to form part of the badge of appointment of a Royal Green Jackets Bugle Major. A similar badge made in silver bullion is currently used by The Rifles.

Tim,

Many thanks from me for your response, that's another badge for my ever growing wish list.
