Default RCA patches, Thoughts on these?

I recently acquired the second of two RCA patches. Image below. They are FD and AT imposed on a rectangular RCA coloured patches. These have been listed as formation signs for the RCA, but that begs the question, which formation? I have an idea what these were actually worn on, but I am putting it out for opinions.

OK Bill, Spill the beans! I've been watching this post for days now and beyond the obvious as to the meaning of the letters, it seems we're all in the dark. Can you release your thoughts? Regards, D.J.

These patches are two of a handful of printed insignia that were made in Canada during the Second WW. (Others include the CATS patches and a variation of the Canadian Amoured Corps titles.) These were not worn overseas.
D.J. indicates the abbreviations are obvious, but for those who may not know, FD is for Field artillery and AT is Anti-Tank artillery. The background colour of red over blue is for the RCA, not a specific division. These would not be of use identifying the formation as 6, 7, and 8 Divisions all had Field regiments. Only 7 had an AT regiment. As well the shapes are not the authorized rectangular style. Given what the shape and size, it is likely that these are worn on the summer helmets.

If worn on the Wolseley it would be in violation of the approved RA/RCA flash which had been in wear from the early 1930s.

That is why they are a bit of a mystery and the idea was thrown out as a possibility. They are not likely a sleeve title, given the policy for shoulder titles and formation patches. These would not represent any specific formation. There was only one home defence Anti-Tank regiment, and it was on the order of battle of 7 Division. That regiment was disbanded in 1943.

Well, I nearly suggested pagri badges but then was afraid everyone would jump on me and remind me of the usual diamond shape with vertical division of the colours Regards, D.J.
