I don't have the catalogue yet, just looking at the online version. I am not sure if this mentions whether or not they are Hugh King items?
Cheers, Neil

Neil,
It is the right pattern and is in fact a brass (gilding metal) badge despite the description.
The description also states that it is 'Cardiff Pals' which it isn't. That was the 11th Battn.
I suspect that Bosleys use a standard description straight form their computer database.
With regard to the bronze finish sometimes referred to I have this on one of my badges and believe it to have been applied at a later date to save cleaning. It is not the finish you would get on an OSD badge.
Hwyl,
Kevin

Default 16th Welsh Collar

I've been looking for something like this for a long time.

A good photo of the above collars in use. I do have this man's name and think he survived but will check this out over the weekend and confirm it.

Default Collar Badge

With reference to the soldier wearing the Cardiff City Bn collar badge; I wonder if you ever found out the soldiers name?

Gruff,
Not a Cardiff Pal. Your man is 16th Battalion. Good image though.
There was a recruiting drive undertaken by the Mayoress in Treorchy.
Hwyl,
Kevin

BTW, what do you think that patch is on his right sleeve, it's too small to be a 38th Div patch?

Kevin

If that's the Black patch with Y Ddriag Goch on it then .... very possibly? Its just at that angle that does not show all .... the resolution is poor as well...

It is just a plain black patch to signify what company/troop that he was in.

Nice one. Are you able to see if the shoulder title is Welsh or Welch?

Although the S/T is not particularly in focus I am pretty confident that it says Welsh.
