Royal Irish Rifles
Another mystery I am hoping members can solve. This is a badge, possibly officers of the Royal Irish Rifles? Exactly the same size as a standard Victorian other ranks cap badge but is is the fitting on the reverse which is puzzling. Can anyone help please? Jimbo

Looks like it may have been adapted for a bridle harness strap?
