Default Unknown (?) Indian badge

Hi everyone,

I believe this badge is Indian but need some help identifying it. Has anyone out got any ideas? Hope someone can help

Graham....might be a variant of an officers pattern of the 3rd Sappers and Miners (Royal in 1922 and Royal Bombay Sappers and Miners in 1923)
Cox shows a somewhat similiar one in silver and gilt. (#2379)with scrolls much more open.

This looks remarkably like a pre-1898 badge of the Duke of York's Royal Military School, before having the VR cypher badge. Mine is lugged and has "D" above "14" inscribed on the reverse. See KK Vol 1 p266 for description.
