Yes, but it was my understanding that it should be worn on the left arm?

No.

Left arm would be an individual prize badge.

Ah, this is new to me. So am I to understand that all the members of the company would wear this badge?

No.

The crossed rifles surmounted by Kings Crown worn on the lower right arm was worn ONLY by the SERGEANT of the best shooting company in the Regiment.

Cheers,

The wearing of the Crown over crossed riflers is extremely confusing as it has had various meanings over the 100 years or more it has been used.

I recommend you get a copy of our member here's (Grumpy) book, "British Army proficiency badges' by Denis Edwards and David Langley which has been my bible on such badges which I have collected for nearly 50 years now.

Good afternoon, I realise that you posted these a while ago, but I have only recent found them and wondered if you had any other documents as G A Scarf was my Great Aunt's Father-in-Law and we have only just found out about him when I obtain some family history paperwork following my mother's death. I would be interested in acquiring anything that you had or wished to Share.

Hi, i am not sure if this is still live, but I have recently become aware of George Scarff from some documents my mother left for me. I would like to know if you have any of the documents you mentioned in this post and would like to share, George was indirectly connected to our family as he was the father in law of my Great Aunt.
