To do with badge dies
Gents these plates something to do with badge dies or manufacture?
I know that the coloured box numbers on the rear do refer to pattern numbers as it is mentioned on the works card that I have for an anodised alluminium Royal Hussars cap badge. This was reproduced in Chris Marsh's book. Any thoughts welcome gents. Regards all Bess3 |

Hi
Those little "mushroom" raised bits are there to help "centre" the counter that gave the badge its hollow back effect. The strikes sometimes have a small hole drilled in them to hang them on a sample board and may have a die number stamped on the planchet. This info from one of the old school guys who are no longer around, sadly. |

Hi
Back again! Just had a look at the work sheet you picture. Yes, as you've guessed already this is a little "checklist" of the stages in production. The "degrease" is needed before plating or enameling and the "trim" would be the blanking out of the badge. A lot of effort for one little badge..... |
