Default To do with badge dies

Gents these plates something to do with badge dies or manufacture?

I know that the coloured box numbers on the rear do refer to pattern numbers as it is mentioned on the works card that I have for an anodised alluminium Royal Hussars cap badge. This was reproduced in Chris Marsh's book.

Any thoughts welcome gents.

Regards all

Hi

Those little "mushroom" raised bits are there to help "centre" the counter that gave the badge its hollow back effect. The strikes sometimes have a small hole drilled in them to hang them on a sample board and may have a die number stamped on the planchet.

This info from one of the old school guys who are no longer around, sadly.

Hi

Back again! Just had a look at the work sheet you picture. Yes, as you've guessed already this is a little "checklist" of the stages in production. The "degrease" is needed before plating or enameling and the "trim" would be the blanking out of the badge.

A lot of effort for one little badge.....
