Default Singapore 1970s Senior Officers rank insignia

Gents,

As Singapore was one of the Colonies, and followed the British style of rank insignia until 1980, I thought these might be of interest for some of you.

Found in an old tailor's shop:

Brigadier, Regimental Colonel, Colonel and Lieutenant Colonel.

All feature the State Crest, with the "pips" bearing the state symbol of five stars and a crescent, and a shoulder title "Singapura", which is Singapore in Malay, the national language.

Here are some more photographs of some early Singapore officer rank insignia:

Here are some Warrant Officer insignia of the earlier period for your perusal:

A mixture of 2WO and 1WO rank badges for both the combat and service dress, and a very rare example of the then-top rank for the WO corps, the Senior Warrant Officer (bottom right). This was a much feared and respected figure.

An evolution of the officer rank insignia, here, an Army Colonel's parade dress shoulder cords in the 1980s. Note how the Crest and Stars was changed to Three Crests for a Colonel.

And finally, a selection of the current form of General Officer rank insignia for the Singapore Armed Forces.

First, a range of cap and beret badges in bullion from the 1980s to 2000:
(in the centre is a beret badge for a Colonel)

Then, the shoulder boards for a Brigadier General and a Lieutenant General, the highest rank in the SAF:

I hope this information is useful to members.
