Well, that was certainly my own belief, I have certainly encountered various gilding metal badges that do appear to have been worn too, although, they are few, but, I was puzzled after reading this thread, which is why I asked for clarification.

To clarity when i said both: the Herts Yeo never wore the badge design in post 1 in brass and the badges in post 1 are all 3 fakes.

The only design they wore was a completely different design of Hart with short antlers as shown in the photo from WW2. This was a brass Hart but of different proportions.

Both the collar and the cap are the same size.

It was a particularly interesting regiment, a few of it's rank and file even ended up out upon the wild frontier with the 21st Lancers.

I've never seen an original gilt or GM version of this badge.
Here's my example of the officer's S/P pattern badge mentioned.
It's been professionally converted to a brooched type fixing, but had 2 lugs originally.
It's Gaunt marked, along with the collar badges, and also came with 2 complete sets of S/P buttons, and 2 surface worn earlier sets of gilt buttons.

That cap badge did not go with those collar badges. The cap badge was worn by officers of the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire Yeomanry, Royal Artillery, post-1961. Those collar badges are much older.

More than likely. However, they did come as a job lot, older and later pattern buttons included, and were possibly owned by the same family.
