Default Hi All (and a question :))

Hi Everyone! Figured I'd introduce myself after using the site for a few months! You can call me Joe.

I collect all sorts of militaria and now have a good handful of badges, and this forum has been wonderful for helping me find out more about them. I'm hoping that by actively posting I can uncover more information and maybe even help other collectors, which leads me to my first question:

I have a Royal Hussars Anodised Aluminium badge (J.R. GAUNT), which I think is legit based of what I know. However it looks like there is some strange indentation on the right side of the crown.

Would this be down to some sort of production issue or perhaps it isn't an original as I had thought? I've seen other badges with and without the same mark on the site too, so I really don't know what to think!
